The 2017 vintage will be a return to normal yields after several short and topsy-turvy growing seasons. Harvest was ripe and early: white wines are as good if not better than in 2014, reds are luscious and consistent. In short, 2017 is a vintage of charm, pleasure, and age-worthiness.
Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay, 2017, From two plots just outside Santenay AOC, this is the bargain beauty in the line-up – crisp, bright and great value all round.
Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Les Ecusseaux, A sliver of south-facing slope next to Meursault leading into Auxey – a racy, luscious winner.
Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières, 2017, This rare Chardonnay is grown on an exposed limestone vein within Gravieres, surrounded by Pinot Noir.
